Chiropractic Adjustments Knightdale, NC
Chiropractic Adjustments Knightdale, NC

Chiropractic Adjustments

Chiropractic simply explained is “practice with the hands.” This means Chiropractors use their hands to deliver adjustments to the spine and other joints to restore normal motion. Why is this important? Because any time joints do not move properly over time they begin to show signs of degeneration. We offer a hands on approach to joint movement! So the old saying “if you don’t use it you lose it” holds very true. At Infinite Wellness, adjustments are accomplished by thrusts with the hands (most often used), or with a table assisted thrust, or even with a small instrument to deliver the thrust. We will make sure we evaluate you and your specific situation to determine the very best way to deliver adjustments to your spine and joints.

Corrective Exercises

Corrective exercises are the use of bodily movements and/or postures to restore desirable changes in diseased or injured tissues. The corrective exercises are movement strategies that minimize or eliminate compensation. Corrective exercises should precede more integrated exercises, because they can cue the patient’s motor system to respond in a more desirable way and assist in removing or improving biomechanical constraints.

More than 3 million Americans and 200,000 children in the U.S. have had acupuncture to help relieve a symptom or condition. Because of its low side effects, it has been the treatment of choice for many doctors across the country. It is even more popular in other countries.

Spinal Decompression Knightdale, NC

Spinal Decompression

Spinal decompression is a non-invasive mechanical procedure performed within our office to help alleviate back pain. It involves gently stretching the spine to take pressure off the spinal discs (the cushions that separate the vertebrae in the spine). By relieving this pressure, bulging discs can retract back into place which takes pressure off the nerves in the spine. By decompressing the spine, it permits water, oxygen and other fluids to work their way back into the discs allowing them to heal naturally. Spinal decompression is an excellent option for anyone with chronic back pain who wants to get back to living a pain-free life as quickly as possible.

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient practice and can be found in Egyptian texts as far back as 1550 B.C. It was practiced in ancient Chinese and Middle Eastern cultures as well. Within modern medicine, cupping has been adopted by practitioners across many different fields, including chiropractors.

At Infin8 Wellness we utilize it to treat a wide range of health issues including, but not limited to:

  • Inflammation
  • Injury
  • Neck, shoulder, and back pain
  • Joint problems
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Asthma
  • Headaches
  • Cramps
  • Digestive issues
  • Arthritis
  • Eczema
  • Acne
  • Allergies
  • High blood pressure
  • Anxiety

We perform cupping therapy by placing specialized cups on your skin for several minutes to create suction. You can think of it as the opposite of a massage – pulling your tissue up rather than massing your tissue down. Depending on your needs, cupping can also be combined with acupuncture.

Your practitioner will create the suction in the cups through the use of a small handheld vacuum device. This causes the skin and underlying tissue within the cups to lift, allowing for greater circulation and relief of pain. In most cases, these cups are left in place for a few minutes and then gently removed.

Benefits of cupping include reduced pain and inflammation, a greater sense of well-being, decreased pain and irritation caused by skin, joint, and muscle issues, improved digestion, and lowered blood pressure.

Side effects are generally mild and may include bruising where the cups were placed and minor discomfort. Bruising and marks left from the therapy typically last a few days, but may take more than a week to fade.

If you have questions about cupping or would like to make an appointment, please call Infin8 Wellness at (919) 217-8188.

Trigger Point Therapy

Our Chiropractic office near Knightdale is available for trigger point therapy.

If you have back pain, you know how much it can interfere with living how you want. You may struggle to walk, lift, sit, or even lay because of the discomfort. While pain medications can reduce your pain, even over-the-counter ones have their share of drawbacks. An option that may help you is trigger point therapy at Infinite Wellness, Inc..

What You Should Know About Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy is a specialized type of massage therapy that targets your trigger points — the locations of the origin of your pain. For instance, you may have lower back pain as a result of an issue with your legs. Therefore, the massage focuses on your legs.

Dr. Peterson massages the center around your triggers point to ease the pressure. The entire concept of trigger point therapy revolves around the fact that waste products build around your nerve clusters and stimulate nerve pain and other nerve-related symptoms. Sometimes, these symptoms spread beyond the initial site of the pain because the waste can cause bands or nodules that press on your soft tissue. The massage breaks up the clusters to ease your symptoms.

Benefits of Trigger Point Therapy at Infinite Wellness, Inc.

Dr. Peterson relieve muscle tension and shortening. It assists in relieving pain as well. Additionally, trigger point therapy can help with the following:

  • Tingling
  • Numbness
  • Tingling

Conditions Treated by Trigger Point Therapy

Dr. Peterson may suggest trigger point therapy as either a sole treatment or complementary treatment along with other chiropractic treatments. Some examples of issues your practitioner may use trigger point therapy for include:

  • Sciatica
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Sports injuries
  • Tinnitus
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Migraines
  • Tennis or golfer’s shoulder
  • Post-surgical pain
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Fibromyalgia

What to Expect During a Trigger Point Therapy Session

During your initial appointment, Dr. Peterson will ask you to fill out a medical history report. From this information, Dr. Peterson determines if trigger point therapy is safe for you based on your current and previous medical conditions.

At Infinite Wellness, Inc. your treatment starts on a sterilized table. You may go through breathing exercises first. Next, your therapist identifies the root of your problem based on your Dr. Peterson evaluation. Through your trigger point therapy, your massage therapist performs techniques that deeply stimulate the muscles around your trigger points.

After the procedure, you should have minimal discomfort from the treatment itself; however, you may need several sessions to feel the full benefits of trigger point therapy.

Trigger point therapy helps with back and other neuromuscular pain and other symptoms. The procedure is safe for most, and the entire treatment process caters to your particular needs.

For more information about trigger point therapy, contact Infinite Wellness, Inc. at (919) 217-8188.

Muscle Stimulation (E-Stim)

An injury or illness can lead to muscular atrophy and make it hard for muscles to contract. Inducing movement in an affected muscle can assist in the recovery process. Chiropractic Muscle Stimulation (E-Stim) is a therapy that causes muscles to contract and may reduce your discomfort during rehabilitation. Dr. Glen Peterson offers E-Stim and other non-invasive treatments to encourage the healing process. Learn about the benefits of E-Stim today.

How Does Chiropractic Muscle Stimulation Work?

Chiropractic Muscle Stimulation or E-Stim is a specialized medical treatment that uses electric currents to induce muscle contraction. It is non-invasive and clients may lay down while undergoing the therapy. Patients do not experience pain from the therapy. In fact, many find a session an enjoyable experience.

The Benefits of E-Stim

You may benefit from including E-Stim as part of an individualized treatment program. As a non-invasive therapy, E-Stim has shown to be an effective treatment for many. A care plan including this therapy offers significant benefits like:

  • Improving blood flow to an area of injury, promoting the healing process in affected areas.
  • Increasing muscle tone and muscle strength in weakened muscles.
  • Strengthening the link between muscle movement and your brain, making it easier to move from easier exercises to more complex tasks.
  • Preventing or slowing muscle atrophy, or a decrease of muscle mass.
  • Encouraging relaxation, as the therapy releases tension in muscles, and encourages endorphin production.

Individuals who have chronic conditions, such as Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and athletes who are looking to enhance their performance can both benefit from E-Stim. Those with MS can experience a reduction in muscle tension and discomfort after a session, making movement easier. Athletes can use E-Stim to reduce swelling and soreness after a workout. It can also be used to decrease muscle stiffness as part of injury prevention. Speak with Dr. Peterson today to explore your treatment options.

Start on the Path to Recovery

After undergoing an initial evaluation, E-Stim may be incorporated into an individualized treatment program to reduce pain and speed up recovery. Patients may pair E-Stim with massage therapy, chiropractic treatments, and other services at Infinite Wellness, Inc.. Patients undergoing E-Stim may need multiple treatments depending on their condition and their individual response.

Our experienced team makes it easy to get started. For more information about muscle stimulation, contact Infinite Wellness, Inc. at (919) 217-8188.
